“Slow Burn” is another good song, but I think it’s definitely on the lower end of the album, which just goes to show how insanely good this album really is. So, so heavy and they just do it so well. If you want an in your face riff, with some lows that will leave you shaking in your boots, “Death Roll” is the song for you. A solid song again, and I don’t think we’ve found a flaw yet. I feel like they wanted that futuristic vibe and I think if they had little things like that more, this would’ve put the album even more over the top than it is. “Godspeed” starts with the robotic chick saying “Godspeed” which if we’re being honest I wish there was more of this on the album. This song is still incredible as the lyrics are so powerful, and I think they hit the nail on the head with this one.

Also, Caleb from Beartooth came out for High Horse and screamed the second half of the song which was insane.Īnyways, “Circle the Drain” slows it back down a little bit with Cody showing off what he does best. So we may put the pit on the shelf for my 28 year old ass. Wage War started with “Stitch” and the hits just kept coming, and I remember by the third song I was absolutely gassed. Side note: I am no longer fit enough to enter the pit at hardcore shows. And let me tell you when the chorus kicked in at show, you would’ve thought the roof was going to explode. When they came around with Beartooth (insane show btw) I had to check the setlists to make sure they played this song. “High Horse” is in my top 5 songs on this album. It incorporates everything they’re trying to do on this album, making sense of why it’s the title track. This song is so simple, but there’s no way this one won’t get you hyped. When the MANIC and heavy guitars hit you’re headbanging along ready to roll. Then comes “Manic”, which has a deathwave synth intro, and you’re almost thinking okay this is going to be a radio single for sure. This song hits hard, and the chorus is easy to sing along with. “Teeth” does this well incorporating certain sounds making it feel futuristic. The sound on this album reminds me of a futuristic post hardcore, meaning its got every sound you can want, and almost a robotic undertone.

A great opener that transitions into Teeth, which has a bit more cyberpunk/synth wave to it, which is a bit of a theme on this album. “Relapse” starts us off with their known scream verse-sing chorus which is a great way to start this album getting back to what they have become so successful with. A true masterclass in what this genre should be. This album is everything Deadweight was, cranked all the way up to eleven. Wage War has become a staple in the post-hardcore/metal genre, and this album takes them to the next level.
